Looks like I still have a job. Thank you to those who voted.

I knew I was forgetting something important today. Glad you still have a job despite my errant blunder. What's the world coming to when a political columnist forgets to vote?

Oh, God. So I can blame you on Bloomberg winning again?

That's fair. I wasn't going to cast a vote Thompson's way though even if I had made it to the ballot box yesterday.

I did vote for you, for the record. Thompson, on the other hand, got my vote - I wasn't about to vote for someone who has managed to destroy the public school system and buy himself a third term in the process. Plus, Bloomberg looks like an evil little elf...thing.

It's always good to hear that people are getting involved and voting, and even cooler to hear they voted for ones self. Thank you.

Yeah, I do try to be involved. It was Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn who said, "For a country to have a great writer is like having another government." I'd like to believe that we don't need the division.

Uh, sure. You too. What do you want to know more about? The quote, or my opinion of it?

Both. All of it, I guess. You're right, I did a bad job with asking the question there.

Ha. No worries. I just have this fear of over-explaining things. I don't want to bore you to death. But, I'm an MFA student, and one of the things we focus on at The New School is how writing is a source of power in itself. As an attorney, I guess you know how powerful words are too. Solzhenitsyn means that great writers know how to use their words to sway the public like the government does. If you're using your writing to critique the current government, then, it's like creating a second one either in opposition or in dialogue with the true government. I just meant that I like to think of writing and the government as not two different entities, but as part of the same general ideal. Um, does that make sense?

Don't worry, I tend to be the person boring people so you're fine. As for your analysis, I think it is a good one. Words can inspire, start a revolution. At the end of the day, however, I'm not entirely sure they can get everything done that needs to be done. If a writer sounds the call to action, it is the soldiers that fight the battle and their role mustn't be overlooked. (And you thought YOU didn't make any sense.)

I highly doubt that you bore people. You've been the complete opposite of boring so far. And yeah, I definitely agree that writing doesn't get everything done. That's why I voted for you, after all.

Just wait! I've yet to pull out the big guns.

I take it you're one of the writers that's going to help change the world?
